Home to around 1,150 residents, Rosharon is a community that is located in Brazoria County, Texas. It sits at the junction of Farm to Market Road 1462 and Farm to Market Road 521. It also goes by the name of Buttermilk Station.

The site of Rosharon was not given a name in its early settling when cotton and sugar plantations dominated the scenery. When the Houston Tap and Brazoria Railway was finished in 1859, the Rosharon stop along the train line was known as Masterson’s Station. It was given the name to honor an area plantation owner, Thomas G. Masterson. The name, Buttermilk Station, was used because an early area local regularly gave the train engineer and his crew a bucket of buttermilk and dipper to quench their thirst at the Rosharon stop.
