Home to around 154,000 people, Pasadena has been named as the seventeenth most populated city in Texas. It is the second largest city in Harris County. One of the special places to visit, close to Pasadena, is the Armand Bayou Nature Center. The 2,500-acre park features an ecosystem that is made up of marshes and woodlands, all which can be easily navigated by taking boardwalks.
You will find that wildlife abounds at the site, as the natural location contains 370 species of animals. Every second and fourth Saturdays of each month, guided canoe tours are featured. Another attraction of note is the Houston Port. Residents and visitors to the area can reserve a free tour of the port in advance. The Port’s tour boat has been providing tours since 1958. It recently was revamped and now has high-tech, low-emission engines. You can either take the tour, sitting in a cabin, or step up on the deck to take in the whole view of the port operations.
Other places to see include the Johnson Space Center and the San Jacinto Battleground as well as downtown museums and stores. One of the prominent historic attractions in the area is the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, home to theSan Jacinto monument, which is over 100 meters (328 feet) high. You can take an elevator to the top of the monument and see amazing views of Galveston Bay andHouston’s downtown. By visiting the site, you will also get a clearer insight into Texas history. Another major attraction at the historic location is the USS Texas. The battleship was commissioned in 1914. It was moored permanently in 1948 in San Jacinto State Park.
